- The Affordable Care Act, protects Medicare for years to come. The Medicare Trust fund will be extended to at least 2029. This amounts to a 12 year exstension. The extension will be in place due to a crack down on waste , abuse and fraud. With the savings derived from this, your premiums and co-insurance should remain at an affordable level.
